I returned from IRA today and while I was sad to leave the sunshine and exciting speakers in Texas, it is always nice to be home. Presenting at IRA was an experience I will never forget! It was so exciting to share our activities, thinking, and ideas with a roomful of teachers eager to learn. While not presenting I attended other sessions about teaching reading and writing in the classroom. I even found some new children’s novels to share with my students! I heard Rick Riordan and Mo Willems speak. Mo is funny and showed us how to draw a pigeon! I enjoyed my IRA experience and my friends and I would love to make this an annual tradition!

Amy, Melissa, Me (the IRA presenters!)
Tomorrow two friends (from my masters program) and I will be leaving for San Antonio, Texas to present at the International Reading Association (IRA) Conference. Last summer we presented at Judson’s literacy summer conference. We spoke to teachers about how we incorporated award-winning author, Joan Bauer’s books into our classrooms. We will be presenting at the annual IRA conference after a luncheon with Joan Bauer. We will be presenting to a room of more than one-hundred teachers. We are very excited to share our ideas and student’s work! I will tell you all about it when I return on Tuesday!
